Crown Street Mall Redevelopment

The project
An award-winning transformation of the pedestrian mall in Crown Street Wollongong. A new space for the community to meet for a coffee, browse the shops or watch a performance. A flexible, open design that accommodates markets and festivals with plenty of room for access. A line of native shade trees that are irrigated with stormwater runoff.

The challenge
Saneia was involved in the Development Application stage of the project, including community engagement. The concept design was communicated through colour plans and images, displayed in meetings and at pop-up stalls. This allowed the local community to comment on issues such as choice of tree species, access  for delivery trucks and emergency vehicles.

Responsibilities
Concept Design, Community engagement.

This project  was undertaken while Saneia was employed at the NSW Government Architect’s Office.
